Initial Ideas

After our initial museum visit, we met and shared all our individual observations. Since most of the visitors we saw were groups of 3–4 comprising of parents and their kids, we saw the potential in designing an experience for the kids. The museum has a wealth of information which is ignored by kids because of the way it is presented. While parents hope that their kids learn something from the museum visit, kids are all about playing and trying to find something fun to do.

Target audience: Kids age 8–12

We chose this target audience to design an experience where kids can have fun but also (hopefully) gain knowledge about the things they see.

We came up with a huge list of ideas and possible spaces for design intervention.

In addition, the class held an AR/VR workshop to help understand the available technologies. We tried Oculus and Microsoft’s Hololens and held a simple demonstration. We thought about where and what technologies will needed to make our ideas possible.
