Life is a Game . What game are you playing?

Why we are impending for doom, as we look at other people’s games instead of focusing on our own.

We are all playing our own games in our own lanes.

The problem arises when we start looking at others’ game and copying them or doing things opposite to them, without understanding WHY a person is taking a stance or action.

It’s applicable across the spectrum of our life. In investments, career choices, and relationships.

Taking an example of investment:

People start buying what a famous Investor, say, Warren Buffet has recently bought.

More than the monetary price is the ability to tolerate Volatility, Patience, and the Economic headwinds, that are part of the price to pay in playing a game that Mr. Warren Buffet does.

This is just a single example involving many attributes that go into making a reasonable decision.

The same happens with life.

People marry because everyone else is getting married, buying cars, and houses thus leading to the formation of bubbles and crises.

Most of our decisions are influenced by our social circle(online & offline), subtly nudging us to buy things that we don’t really need to .

Thus when things come to an impasse-Marriage not working. Facing monetary crisis etc.

We are to blame no one else, but ourselves.

Because instead of focusing on our game we got influenced by the other people and their games.

Or take the case of career choices.

If we focus on a game that is unique to ourselves, rather than comparing it to other people’s games we can beat the competition as we are being authentic.

The Price to be paid for the others’ game is not visible upfront while we are comparing our game.

We realize it only when we get our hands dirty. And if we can’t pay that price then we are impending doom, as we are playing the wrong game, the one that didn’t belong to us.
