The simple requisite hardware component is installable on any existing handicap motorized door at any facility, and does not affect the functionality of existing buttons. ReWalk robotics is a company focused on making robotic exoskeletons for people with lower-limb mobility difficulties such as those with spinal cord injuries. Their technology provides powered hip and knee motion that enables some previously immobile individuals to stand upright, walk, and turn. The company is even working on technology that would aid people to climb and descend stairs. ReWalk is the first exoskeleton to receive FDA clearance for personal and rehabilitation use in the United States, and is a leader in the exoskeleton industry. In the future, there is no telling how far this technology will go — perhaps one day, nobody will need wheelchairs anymore.
